I’m moving soon and when I set up my music room at the new place, to keep down the clutter, I’m thinking of leaving the old stereo component system(turntable, CD player, cassette deck, 60watt receiver, couple of 8” bookshelf speakers) boxed up and just getting a couple of powered speakers to hook up to the Imac. Yea, I’ll give up the turntable, but I’ll still have one w/my wife’s stereo system in another part of the house.

Will use mainly for listening / playing along to CDs at moderate volume, and possibly recording monitors at some point.

Will something like this sound just as well or better than my old stereo?
The room is your typical 12x12 spare bedroom. Will be using mainly acoustic instruments but some elec guitar at moderate volumes.

Anything better?
Budget is $100-$150.

Thanks.
