So apparently this new p2p network is free and legal. It appears to be an ad based system from what I have read.

http://www.qtrax.com/

Beta launch is tonight. I will definitely have to check it out, but the whole DRM thing kind of seems fishy to me. They also claim to have a mac client coming out on March 18th, so I guess they are using a different DRM that the Windows DRM system.

Did it really launch? I just went to the site, and being that I'm on a mac, I can't tell if it's really launched. It doesn't appear to have, but let me know if it has, and if so, how is it?

Thanks

I was hoping to download it last night as well. Nothing ever went up for me. Who knows? :freak:

Maybe they forgot or something?

WEIRD!!

After what they claim to be 5 years in the making, I highly doubt they've forgotten. Technical difficulties?

I wonder if they're having problems with the labels that they have not yet confirmed to the service, but have plans to work with.

Should be interesting to see what's happening. Time will tell!

We're thrilled with the massive response we've received.
To ensure the best user experience, we're activating accounts
in stages. In the meantime, enjoy all the functionalities of the Qtrax
player like importing and playing your music and
searching for artist-related content.

I saw that on the download page, maybe it's something to do with it? im curious about this myself.

Qtrax beta for Mac OS X available March 18????????

What is wrong with these people? Do they not pay attention to Apple's sales of the Macbooks, iMacs, etc.??? Not only that, but the consumer demographic of these products?

Qtrax progress and why they aren't having the best week ever:

1. Don't launch when you say you're going to.
2. Lie to everyone about the partnership agreements you're working out with the major labels.
3. Humiliate yourselves.
4. Don't even offer beta for Mac's until March 18th

whack whack whack, is all I have to say. Not off to a good start, are they?
