No amps, no guitars, no drums, just audio and studio stuff.

Mike, great stuff as always, and I appreciate your posting the link here. You always manage to catch things that I miss...and your observations are, as the Brits say, "spot on."

Thanks. But the stuff that you catch that I miss is sometimes cooler.

Did you get a chance to talk with the METAlliance guys? I wanted to say something about that in my report but I wanted to feel them out more before I said I thought they were working on the wrong end of the problem. I went to the press conference, but it was so mobbed with everyone taking pictures with famous engineers and then they all disappeared to booths unknown until too late.

This is a group of famous engineers whose names we all know, who have declared that the quality of music delivery has deteriorated even though the technology has improved over the years. They want the listeners to have the opportunity to learn what good recordings sound like, and are blessing technology products as suitable for making good recordings. On that level, it sounds a bit like an extortion racket but hopefully they're going to use the money to educate listeners and hopefully budding engineers as well. How they do that, and how well remains to be seen. It won't be over night, that's for sure.
