beautifully shot, written, performed.... just a fantastic movie overall. very funny, yet still tear-inspiring at the right moments. it also has a great soundtrack :D it's the first movie about teenagers where they're not obsessed with sex and/or clothes, they actually act like *gasp* normal, non-overly hormonal, non-superficial kids

for those who don't know, it's about a 16 year old girl named Juno (Ellen Page) who is impregnated by her best friend (Michael Cera). She decides to give the baby to a young couple (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner), despite their obvious marital problems. the movie focuses on the relationships between both couples, as well as Juno's "journey through pregnancy".

seriously incredible film. if you have any brains at all, go see it :thu:

I really want to see it. The gal who wrote it, Diablo Cody, has had a blog in a local rag around here, I've been reading it for years. Her writing impressed me right off.

My wife and I went to see it the other night. It's a great flick. Filmed in BC, but it takes place in Minnesota. Woo! We really liked it, and the soundtrack is good, too.

The Moldy Peaches did most of it, and they're...um...interesting. The song they used in the preview (and later on in the movie) has a line that goes, "Squinched up your face and did a dance / You shook a little turd out of the bottom of your pants."

the song's called "Anyone Else But You". it's one of my favourites by them :o

Is this just another hipster movie? I like hipster stuff, it's just I don't want to give in to all of the hipster must see shit. I refuse to see Wes Anderson movies just on that basis alone.

It starts out very much resembling a hipster movie and it does have some Wes Anderson similarities. But it rises above that smarminess and becomes a very sweet, moving, sincere movie. In fact, because the real emotions took me by surprise, I think I was moved by it even more.

So I agree. Juno is a seriously great movie. The best movie I've seen in a while.

I just saw Juno and its a good flick i wish there were cool chiks like her back when i was in high school! It would have rocked having a metal / punk cutie chik like her that could jam with me and give it up ;) instead we had the high haired dance party hoes :(

So yeah good movie!

Just saw it recently. It's better than I thought it would be. Wasn't preachy or anything. Just whimsical and honest.

Bateman as the aging grunge-rocker...hits too close to home, here on the HC. :thu:

Such a great movie...totally took me by surprise how honest the characters were written, and how great they were acted and portrayed how teens act and talk so realistically.. Ellen Page is only 21...holy moly, she carried the movie very well.
Frig, when The Kinks came on in the beginning, it grabbed my attention, and didtn let go, the soundtrack alone is excellent and very much suits the movie .

Definitely go see this movie to anyone whos on the fence

soap opera

I have decided that you are a crusty, old douchebag.

I watched this the other day was very surprised at how good it was. It was not like a soap opera, but very well acted and really seemed to come from her point of view. When Micheal Cera comes out at first in the short shorts and a headband, that is exactly how I imagined him in real life when I saw him in Superbad. Pretty good movie after all, but I'm pretty sure my parents would have never acted like hers did. Come on Liberty Bell, get in the car. Priceless hippie names.

I downloaded it and actually watched it like 3 times.. It's a really good movie. I actually downloaded another movie that Ellen Page was in - Hard Candy, and she also did a stellar job at that one too, but the movie is pretty out there

Hard Candy was disturbing on 800 different levels. I loved it for this reason.

I liked this movie a lot in retrospect, but it took some time to come to that conclusion.

When I first walked out of the theater I didn't really know how I felt but the longer the time passed the more I decided I enjoyed it.

Yeah, that did suck, but you could tell his heart wasn't into being a dad.

Lots of great lines. Stand out for me was what a good job Jenn Garner did with her character. "I was born to be a Mommy". Ya had to feel sorry for her, but at the same time she gave me the willies.

hahahhhaahhaha....

This movie, i thought, was incredible. I loved it the second the animated intro started. So, so, so many great lines, and Juno (the pregnant girl) is hysterical.

I've seen it 2 or 3 times already, and I'm ready to see it again.

I hated everything about it from the animated opening credits on.
You see? We're supposed to LOVE her.
NO 16 year old has that "clever" facilty with language. Pure contrivance.
The soundtrack is awful. Who listens to that crap?

I'm 18 and my friends and I talk like that (and their ages range from 14 - 27). in fact, most people I know talk like that. :idk:

I loved the movie!

Though the music was a bit too Twee for my taste at times. :D
