Hi,
I finally got the support of my record-label to buy some gear for my home-studio. Here's the plan:
First I want the signals to be recorded analog on a 16-track -recorder . After that I want to record using a mixer ( Mackie? ) and edit the tracks in Logic 5.
My budget is about 5000$
Here are some of my questions:

1: I'd like to buy a new PC and only use it for audio purpose ( windows XP )( No Mac ).
Which kind of hardware (processor/harddrive/motherboard) is recommended and should I pay attention to?

2: Should I go for Firewire or USB?

3: Which soundcard is the best option? ( I want 8 inputs )

4: Which kind of 16-track mixer with a good preamp is recommended?

I'd really appreciate any advice/sugestions
excuse me for my bad english,
Thanks, Jarnosz.

I would go with a PCI soundcard, USB has limited bandwidth.

Can't really recommend firewire for a PC system(check out the windows forum)

M-audio Delta series, at midiman.com.

need more data on mixer, analog, or digital?
