I don't get to theaters much, but the buzz on Beowulf is that it's pretty amazing. Anyone here seen it?

I saw it...most of it anyway...the 3D is kinda cool, but gave me a headache after a while. The animation is amazingly realistic (so much so that you wonder why they went to the trouble), and yet creepy...I think it's the eyes...they are always vacant looking. The story was long, involved and tedious...the action scenes were gripping if you happened to wake up at the right time to catch them...all in all very boring, at least up until the point where we got up and left.....

Craig, don't just go by one reply. I liked it very much. First the problems with it: Grendel speaks in an ancient tongue, and there are no subtitles - WTF? Plus he doesn't look like Grendel based on the other adaptations I've seen; he just looks odd, but he's huge, fast, and strong, so he kicks humans' butts. Also, the movie followed the story until the end, and this ancient story doesn't move as well as a modern story might.

Good points about the movie: Beowulf is a HERO with a capital H. Other humans see these monsters and scream and run; Beowulf laughs and jumps on the monster and starts pummelling it! Now that's a hero! Also, some of the changes to the original story work quite well: instead of seeing Grendel's mother as a monster, we see her as a Temptress that no man can resist. You don't actually see much of Angelina as far as minutes are concerned, but you DO see a lot of her computer generated image. I wonder what those computer engineers are going to do with her digital image now that the movie is completed; they could come up with some really interesting scenarios I'm sure (like an X-rated version of her encounter with Beowulf); of course it couldn't see the light of day, but they could show it at parties!

So I think the movie is worth seeing on a holiday weekend. But see the 3D version!

the trailer looks kinda cool..like the 3D animation and special effects. not sure how interesting the story will be however, who's directing it by the way?

A friend in college wrote a paper on Beowulf and called it, "Beer, Babes, and Broadswords".

He got a D from the tight assed but professor but he became my instant hero.

It sucked. Atleast I saw some Jolie.
