Didn't know what it was about, just the the wife wanted to check it out.

It's a musical that uses Beatles music entirely, with a wide variety of artists participating. Some of the arrangements are new and different, some of the songs are presented very simply, and they weave the music through a condensed period of about 1962-63 through about 1969-70.

The actors do their own music, Dana Fuchs is very hot as Sadie, hot and great on stage. The "Jimi" clone was good but not real passionate. Joe Cocker burns up his bit in the subway, and Salma Hayek plays the naughty needle nurse very well in one of the movement sequences.

I like the Beatles, but wasn't a huge fan, if you like their music give it a watch. No surprises, but no disappointments either.

Dave-Bob says, "two thumbs up, check it OUT! ! !"

IF you like the music of the Beatles.

Yes, I enjoyed "Across the Universe" as well. It bothered me a little when I found out that the actor playing our British hero didn't actually do his singing, but apparently all the other major players did their own singing. The soundtrack on CD doesn't really work, because a lot of the songs are done at slower than original tempo and often begin acapella, but this works just fine on screen seeing someone in a huge close-up singing acapella (spelling?).

It was great fun seeing them all tripping and hanging with the character played by Bono.

The "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" routine was a bit much.

I liked the lead female, what's her name, Marilyn Manson's main squeeze in real life.

the movie itself looks really cool but the only part i can't stand is the fact that all the songs are covers and not the originals. for some reason that really bothers me and comes across as cheap.
