We unleashed a new beast of a microphone at AES this year, the Crowley & Tripp "el Diablo" Mercenary Edition, which is an indestructable ribbon microphone made from the new patented Roswellite material. Put it INSIDE the kick drum, directly in front of the loudest bass amp you have...no struggle. SPLs up to 146dB at ALL FREQUENCIES, not just 1khz.
Mercenary Editions have to be versatile, so when we got serial number #0001, we got the bright idea of cutting an entire song with "el Diablo" on every single track except for snare drum (Shure SM57 with TAB-Funkenwerk transformer) and overheads (Mercenary Audio KM69's. Our attempt at KM84's. We nailed it). We would have used the mic on those tracks too...but, you know, we only had one at the time.
YouTube does some absolutely TERRIBLE things to the audio, but I figured you guys would want to see the video anyway, just to get an idea of application. So here it is:

Enjoy.
