I have a 16gb iPod touch. Love it. You can put all your music on, youtube videos, the internet browsing is great, looks like the internet, and not a hacked down mobile version.

If I need internet when I'm on the go, I just park beside a hi-rise apartment block. There is always one or two or 10 wireless routers with no security that you can use.

I have one, but if I had it to do over again, I probably would have gone for a Nano (esp. if they offered a 16gig version, which is mainly why I went for the iTouch - which just came out in a 32gig version!). A few things I don't like about my iPod Touch:

- The volume slider and playback controls are not very touch sensitive for some reason. I find myself having to stab at the controls multiple times before my finger "catches". Oddly, I don't have any problem with the touch sensitivity when scrolling through the album art in cover-view (landscape) mode, or when trying to type with the touch-screen keyboard (more on that in a sec, though).

- The lack of an external volume control. Even if the touch-screen control worked properly, it's still a pain since you have to bring up the now-playing screen to access it. If you use a leather flip-cover like I do, it takes at least three steps to adjust the volume, and that's only if you don't have to stab at the control several times once you get to it.

- The touch keypad doesn't do a very good job of distinguishing which key you're trying to press unless you type very slowly and precisely. I haven't tried the iPhone version, but if it's anything like the one on the iTouch, then the iPhone must be useless as a PDA.

I love iPods; this is my sixth or seventh since they first game out. I still have a 3G 40gig model I use when I want to plug into a Sound Dock, say at the beach or a party. I have a new 8gig Nano that I keep in my car to use through the stereo system. And then I have the iTouch. Hopefully the 2nd generation iTouch will eliminate some of these problems/annoyances, as it's a great device in many other ways.

I remember dreaming as a kid to have a hand-held version of Pac-Man that was the same as the arcade game. Now we have portable Internet music players. My dreams sucked! :)

More negatives:

Battery can't be replaced by the user.
Unlike almost every other MP3 player on the market, it won't work as a USB hard disk that you can drag and drop files to.
No FM radio or mic for voice recording.
Limited support of audio and video formats.
No memory expansion slot.
No speaker.

All of these have been done by other vendors.

That having been said, I love it also. The January software upgrade made it really useful as a PDA. The ability to browse the web and sync calendar and address book info means that I often don't have to carry my Macbook, and maps is a great application. When the software development kit comes out, I think that you are going to see some amazing applications for the iPhone/iTouch.

The touch interface works very well, and the screen is actually big enough for video.

I want to get an itouch so bad.

You may want to wait a bit, it seems likely that there is a price cut coming soon.

I can type on it pretty fast. I always type in the sideways position. Hold it with the thumb and middle finger on each hand and use my 2 pointer fingers to type. I love the word replace, and it's usually the right word.

I use Meebo.com because there is no MSN client. It would be nice if it had Flash and Jave. I think I'll skip the 32GB version coming out and wait for the 64 or 100GB which will come in time.

LOVE the wifi, and the internet acutally LOOKS like the internet.

I usually take my PowerBook when I take a dump. Works the same. Does it have the same CPU as the iPhone? I wonder if the touch response is exactly the same.

Same CPU. It's missing the phone and messaging features, of course, the camera, and has no internal speaker.
