As Summer NAMM fades into the distance, the Trade Show Long March begins: AES, Winter NAMM, and Frankfurt.
Things seem a little bit on the quiet front, which means one of two things: There's not a lot of new stuff, or companies have a lot of new stuff and are waiting to spring a surprise on everyone. I suspect we may see Pro Tools 7.4, which is going to do more than people expect; I don't know if Apple will be going to Big Apple, but let's face it -- Logic 8 is very cool, and now would be a great time to support it.
Jon Chappell and I will be covering the show with video cameras in hand, and we'll be continuing to push beyond the "product specialist describes product" videos. Not sure if we'll be able to get anything on a par with the Camp Freddy videos from last year, but I can tell you for sure there will be some surprises. The official start of the show is October 5th, but I'll be collecting footage before then...if you see me running around the halls of the Javits Center, say hi!
