Who are the (living or deceased) really respected musicians, writers, actors, artists, etc. whose use of marijuana has been well documented? I started wondering about this when I saw someone in another thread mention that Buddy Rich was a pot smoker, which surprised me.
Have a reference available for the names you cite. I have a feeling that a comprehensive list of famous pot-smokers would be pretty impressive.

There are a lot of heroes of mine on that list.... :o
I've had a similar talk with my family before when they challenge me that I drink too much. I tell them that almost all of both their and MY heroes were drunks... wtf did they expect?!?!?

Montel Williams!? Steve Martin? Shakespeare!? No way, is there conclusive evidence for this?
I wonder if musicians like Dylan and McCartney, whose use in the 60's was well documented, still smoke pot

I think Paul McCartney actually owns a business in Amsterdam smuggling it into the UK.
Dylan... Well... He's moved on. He lives on a plantation in Coloumbia and has slaves to harvest and refine his cocaine; Half of which he uses, the rest he exports to the US.

Oh, I know all about his use of opiates (I'm a literature academic), I can also tell you that together with Thomas Beddoes and Robert Southey he experimented with nitrous oxide. I've never found any evidence that he used cannabis however, I'd be interested if some has come to light.

G.W. Bush was a pothead. He never stated as such per se, but it is commonly known that he's done coke before reforming himself, and we all know that weed is the gateway drug. Therefore, he must've smoked.
Also, you can add to the list "Every Rapper, past present & future".

I call bullshit on Newt Gingrich
You're right about that. However he admitted to cheating on his wife around the same time Clinton was being crucified for it :thu:
Golly, they all smoked pot and with the exception of the Crowes and Phish, they're all dead!
Cause and effect, my friends, cause and effect.
The ones that died also took massive amounts of other drugs
John Lennon- Heroine
Richard Pryor- multiple sclerosis
Jimi Hendrix- Everything
Jim Morrison- Everything
Janis Joplin- Everything
Bob Marley- SKIN CANCER
George Harrison- Lung Cancer, he smoked cigs as well, I'll admit pot didn't help
Hunter S. Thompson- Where do I even start on the things he introduced to his body :freak:

Gingrich told his first wife that he was filing for divorce while she was in the hospital for cancer treatment. Class act. :thu:
Lennon was shot to death by an insane person.

Lennon shouldn't be listed as a drug-related death, unless Chapman was on something.

True I'm just saying he did do other drugs that are way more harmful than grass. :D
Hunter Thompson shot himself, he was drunk when he did it though, he definitely was planning on suicide (it was premeditated)

Well I ran 12 miles today and I didn't just jog them like some pussy pot smoker. And you know what that makes me a better human being than you.
Excuse me but I am on my 4th bite of this delicious apple.
Damn! 12 miles is awesome. Cut me some slack, a year and a half ago I couldn't go 10 minutes straight :thu: And I didn't "run" because it was supposed to be my easy day. I didn't plan on going that far but it was a nice day out.
Enjoy your apple. I just had a salad.

Why does it even matter anyway? The same people are still under the "pot is bad" hypnosis they picked up in DARE or whatever.
I'm sick of trying to argue pot isn't a bad thing with you people. Honestly, if you really think pot is an awful substance, fine. But if you drink alcohol and still call pot an awful substance, I call hypocrite. Whatever. You know my stance.

Derivicus, the question was "Famous and well respected people who SMOKE marijuanna" not "who have smoked marijuanna". Most of the worlds population has at least tried the stuff (especially in america), so you may as well list nearly every famous person there is, oh wait....you already have.

My high school is affiliated with drug recovery centers, so we got kids who were recovering from meth, coke, and other substance addictions. So that's prolly why it was hush-hush.
