After FINALLY attempting some recordings of myself soloing (my first ever solo is on Funky's Bantam 2 cyberjam ....when it comes out.....cover your ears.. :( ) ive realized that I hit my open g string a lot.

I dont seem to have too much other stray string noise when I get serious about it...but the g string is still getting in the way too often.

I dont know if anyone can really help me on this.. Its probably something Ill need a teacher to actually see what Im doing wrong.

But....just in case....HC and its good folks have done wonders for me before...... :)

If I may semi-hijack your thread...

On the subject of muting, I play fingerstyle and have recently switched from anchoring my thumb on the low E string to playing 'free', with no fingers but the ones I am picking with touching the guitar.

Unfortunately, I now find that there is a lot more ringing on my strings. It's not from hitting open strings, but from open strings in sympathetic vibration with fretted strings. Any ideas?
