sadly there wasn't too much in the way of new gear to report :(

- The marshall demos from the Chris George band were superb, the VM sounded great. Superb quality sound in the marshall live room, and that drummer is brilliant!!

- Hook amps (http://www.hookamps.com/) were one of my favourite amps of the exhibition. Kind of like a nice hot plexi tone with a nice upper midrange emphasis. Also had a clean channel and a 2nd master vol on the drive channel. Perfect for gigs - clean, rhythm & lead :)

- Vox seemed to be obsessed with demoing the tonelab?? Why? That has been out for a few years - I wanted to hear the new amps....

- Hayden amps sound awful. Well the amp might have been ok, but the cab sounded like a flubb

- Orange were demoing the 200 watters, but the guy had so many fx in his pedal board it was difficult to tell what was the amp and what was fx!

- When I went to the Brunetti stand some kid was playing through their new amp and was making it sound very very shit. The poor guy at the stand was looking around quite embarassed. If I was him I would have taken the guitar of the kid!!!

- There were some amazing players demoing gear, cracking solos and some very cool shredding. Laney always manage to put on a decent show.

- The Diezel stand was the same as usual, quality amps and the HCAF official meet up point!! It is always nice to play through the range in the soundproof room and compare the VH4/Einstein/Herbert. Shame the Schmidt was still in tweaking stage.

- Peavey stand was shit. Same gear - the nicer amps were not plugged in, only allowed to play through their shit guitars & amps.

- Fender had the EVH guitar on display - it is quite amusing. Totally minging - they got it just about right!!!

- Gibson stand was too small again and was difficult to look around due to the number of people wanting to sign up for some competiton thing.

- The Ibanez stand was pretty cool, esp with the 550 reissues which play really nice. Shame they were in the drum hall which is obviously a nightmare to spend more than 10 mins in!!

- Tested out the Bugeras - JSX & 5150 copies. Sounded quite good actually!! The 5150 copy lacks the resonance control which is important imo, but the actual tone of the amp is not a million miles away from an actual 5150 and would do as a back up imo. Quite amusing to see they have released some bass heads which look just like the ampeg classic range!!

- I checked out some studio equipment whilst I was there and it was nice to see some impressive desks from Neve and SSL. I just need to win the lottery!

Sat night went to see an absolute quality ACDC tribute band in Frankfurt city centre. Crackin venue which was packed and the band only played Bon Scott era songs. The german singer nailed Bon Scotts vocals perfectly, it was great to watch - esp with some nice german beer!!

Nice to see the Euro crew too - Olaf, Alex, Yoeri, Axel etc :)

Sorry that I disappeared as quickly as I came but I forgot I had a meeting with some company and had to bail on the SigX demo  Now, that's one of the amps I was looking forward to hear but totally forgot about

My favorite of the whole Messe was the Elmwood Modena60, sounded killer and I'm having GAS

Modena60 has a Marshall-vibe, stellar clean channel and thick and crunchy OD tones, you missed out on that one Mark!

I played about 5-6 version of the Hook before this production model and always liked the amp a lot. The current version is even better, one hell of an amp, very articulate and clear sounding.

TAD had a very good JTM45/100 amp kit you guys would have liked! Lots of nice guitars. Checked out Ruokangas (sp?) right before leaving - liked them a lot. The EVH-strat at the Fender booth was crazy! Heaps of chinese copy crap as usual - plus a lot of crap from all over the world. :D Missed THD. :( Didn't get to hear the new Marshalls and VHT - and we learned there's still some time for us Krauts until the Marshalls will hit the stores in significant numbers here. I saw Michael Angeleo Batio (the guy with the double guitar) - oh well, he's fast (and kind of a strange personality)...:bor: - Michael Schenker sat right next giving autographs. I'd preferred watching him play... Met Mathias Eklundh but didn' see him play. :( Peter Stapfer is a very good guitarist, didn't know that! :D Great coffee at Häussel Pickups.

Yeah, nothing really new and no big trend. Still a fun day checking out much stuff.

It was nice to see you guys again! Although the Messe isn't exactly the best place to meet. I checked by the Diezel booth a couple of times, but didn't see you again.

ok, i was only there on Thursday and i was kinda in a rush,so i did not see much and barely played anything, just talked to some people, took some photos. so here are my impressions:

Randall showed the Lynchbox and the new Mike Amott Signature Head. Did not get to hear the Amott Amp, but the Lynchbox was nice, the modular thing is very cool.

Bugera had Shane Gibson demoing their complete line. The 6260 sounded alright i guess, i missed some growl compared to the original, and their was some nasty frequencies in the mids...but still, i think it will be a solid buy for a beginner. the 333 sounded better to me, the clean was nicer and the lead sound smoother. i am not a tech guy, but build quality looked kinda crappy...i guess you get what you pay for.

Manne Guitars from Italy displayed some sexy looking guitars in a somewhat non ordinary shape. I am a seven string player, so i focused on their sevenstring...hopefully they will have a version without a FR.

Yerasov Amps - never heard of them before and i did not have time to try them, but they certainly win the award for most awkward advertising;)

Rivera presented their combo version of the knucklehead tre. it is a 1x12 combo, 55w and comes with an eminence speaker. the other specs are the same as the head. unfortunately my pic does not really show the gorgeous carbon-fiber like tolex which really made the amp look sexy.

about VHT, glad they made it this year!

had to bail on the SigX demo

did they actually demo the amp? the guy at the booth told me it was a nonworking prototype....anyways, he told me that a price around 2800€ is planned, which will probably be more like 2500€ in the shops. i was really surprised by such a reasonable price tag. they plan to ship them sometime in autumn. looking forward to hear the amp! only have a blurry pic of it, since there are better pics around on the net, i am not gonna post it.

Where you able to check out the new all-tube Statesman line from Hughes & Kettner?

Check out the video with Thomas Blug in the theater. I think he's using the Statesman, although I'm not 100% sure. In any event, he's using an H&K amp, and it sure sounds sweet.

You must have been there at a bad moment. They were more than eager to let me check out whatever I wanted to and at some pretty excessive volume too!

Perfect for an "in the round" stage. You could sit the drummer on top.
