Iīve been reading lots of posts around and everyone that seems to understand a bit about this says that cakewalk sucks big time...
Well, I donīt know much about this and Iīm using it http://acapella.harmony-central.com/smile.gif
But I really would like to know what are the differences between this one and cubase/nuendo/logic. Is sound quality different? VST plugs are better? what?
Cīmon ppl! Release all your anger! this time sonar is going down!!! http://acapella.harmony-central.com/biggrin.gif
just kidding!
I just want to know if it really worths the effort of spending another month learning software. When will I be able to start makin some tunes???
thanks

Ive been using cakewalk for sometime and currently use sonar. It really comes down to what you are comfortable with. Most of my projects begin with extensive MIDI sequencing and Sonar excells at this.
Additionally if you are familiar to the Windows paradigm (mouse clicks, menus, etc.)its a no brainer. It started in the Windows platform unlike the other major players so you dont have to learn a entirlely new set of rules.
The other big names MIDI sequencing funtions are ok if you learned to use them from the start, but if you would rather make music than read documentation stick with Sonar.
As far as audio I beleive Cubase, SAW are really well made apps, though as I said the reading/learnig curve is not for me.
The other aspects I appreciate are the cost & the fact that you can save your files to a removable drive as a .bun file and take your project (including .WAVs and edits, settings, etc.) to another sonar users DAW for collaboration.
I am aware for that some of the others can utilize .EDL files in a similar way, but it simply comes back to my need for deep, easy MIDI sequencing.
The audio side of all the major players is really a no brainer so thats why Im sold on the cake.

I use Sonar, and it works fine with me. I have no band, so MIDI is important for me to lay the ryth sections and the record guitar tracks over it. It sound good, specially with all the plug ins you get, the ability to use soundfonts, DXi synths, session drummer (of Acid Loops if you prefer). It is extremely easy to use, has a nice guitar interface as well as a keyboard one. I don't see any problem with it.
