Someone told me that I am supposed to get 10msec of latency for Soundblaster Live. I don't have latency problems with many other synths but using Cubase VST instruments and Sampletank is the only program I am having problems with right now. Can any of you tell me the best settings to make or tell me what I need to do? The closest I can get it down to is like 120msec.
Thank you
-Chris

You can get 10msec with the APS drivers in Windows 98 only. They will not work in anything else. The Creative Labs drivers don't have the ASIO support like the APS drivers do.

Here is another alternative. THis one keeps your current sb drivers but not sure about ASIO.

You can get 10ms using the ASIO DirectX full duplex drivers that come with Cubase. Set the buffer down to 512 samples and go nuts.

I did the same thing and it works perfectly alright. This is the most easiest and effective way to deal with latency in Cubase in combination with a SB Live card.

Theres a tutorial in http://home.graffiti.net/hybrid-sf/ that explains how to get 9-10-11ms of latency depending on your pc speed. But this setingsa only work for soundfonts. The best latency with VST instruments is 46ms.
Take a look: Ricardo
