Hey all,
I just bought, without knowledge, the Hercules "game theater xp" at Fry's for $129. I bought for three purposes, the first and foremost is midi keyboard recording, gaming, and dolby digital 5.1 AND NOW 6.1 (with the latest drivers!) I am so far very impressed with the resultant sound quality and the low noise floor on my midi piano songs on CD. Very Very close to the original midi....I will be selling these CD's, and it was important to get what I just described...My old SB awe32 just couldn't compete.
What makes this setup so cool is that is comes with a seperate small rack module that has the following...4 USB ports, 1/4 headphone and mic with volume, 2 line inputs (rca) 15 pin game port, SEPERATE MIDI IN/OUT, OPTICAL IN/OUT, COAXIAL DIG IN/OUT, 5.1 analog outputs for DD (6.1 if using power dvd....you use the HEADPHONE JACK as the extra rear output for ex dvds!)
Lots' of goodies, plus the software is very sexy looking....Need I say more? Just my 2 cents on this product....Let me know if any of you have checked this out...I like to hear what others have to say about this stuff. LATER
