Hi everyone, I've been having a problem recording with Cakewalk for a while now...I didn't want to post but I've tried everything...I think it's probably something simple but I just can't seem to figure it out!

I just wanted to do a simple 4 track recording so what i did was imported a .wav drum track into the first track, and recorded audio through line-in on tracks 2, 3, and 4. The thing is, for some reason, all the previously recorded tracks get "bounced" onto the new track I record. i.e. when I play back track 3 (with all other tracks muted) I can still hear the previous tracks 1 and 2. Then I can't adjust levels, etc.

What am i doing wrong here?

Thanks

ps. Perhaps my setup info will help. I play my guitar and bass on my guitar amp and use the "preamp out" into "line in" on my soundblaster live to record in cakewalk.

You need to set the recording source to "line-in", right now you have the recording source set as "what you hear". Check your manual to find out where to define the recording source.
