Great chip! what speed? be careful of the motherboards that have the older KT133A VIA chipset, as there have been major problems with them(including mine). I suggest getting a EPoX 8KHA+. A very nice board. What is the exact price you are being offered?

i think it was this one: AMD Athlon 1.4 GHz FSB266

it seems that i remember reading that it was outperforming the pentium chips. i could very well be wrong.

Walking past the P4s, for sure, at least today.

I've been running a 1.2GHz /200MHz FSB Thunderbird for about a year now, on a EpoX EP-8KTA3 motherboard. It's been blazing fast and completely solid, for everything from gaming to mangling huge wave files. I couldn't be happier.

I would go for it.

And I have a P3. But don't blame us if you do get burned.

Ask him if he is upgrading himself. If he says to a P4 than he's a gamer and more likely you will get a good deal.
