Can anyone recommend a good site to visit for us to beable to build our own web site or page.etc? We want to promote our band, and maybe a couple of other things, etc! Is it hard to do? is it expensive?
Thankyou!
We use addr.com hosting for our site. Costly? well you need to pay for a domain if you want your own .com. and yes with them it does cost some to have a site. But basicly it's you get what you pay for all over the net. Free services are usually crappy.
And don't believe people when they say unlimited bandwith/traffic. Doesn't work that way.
You can usually find a good provider for maybe $10.- US a month.
Learn how to view source code. Then borrow what you like. This is how I do all my webpages...

For domain registration (to get your own www.bandname.com) (http://www.bandname.com)) I suggest checking out www.000domains.com. (http://www.000domains.com.) They charge just $13.50 per year for registering a domain name. That is cheaper than the "requirement" of $36.00 from Network Solutions.
Second, I would check in your local phone book for web hosting. They will provide the space you actually need to hold the web's data. Remember that when you create the band's site, you will plan on having pictures and some kind of audio files on the site so expect to use some space for the site.
There is a book on internet promotion (web sites, web radio and more) that you can get. It is called The complete guide to Internet Promotion, written by John Dawes and Tim Sweeney. You can find the site to purchase a copy of the book at www.tsamusic.com. (http://www.tsamusic.com.)
