Is the video of the demo even on HC somewhere?
Thanks!

The press release was posted. Not sure if Jon got a video or not...it wasn't on my schedule, so I do know for sure that I didn't shoot it!

There's a thread (http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1508074) in SSS about the VG-99 that has some interesting points.

We're trying to raise the bar for quality, rather than just being "the first with the most"...although we should have over 100 videos posted by the time this is all done. So, blame the people who said "Wow, your Summer NAMM and AES videos were way better than the other sites!" Then again, they also said "Can't you get them up quicker," too :) but we're working on that. 30 videos have been converted to streaming format and they should be up soon.

When the price drops on that i'll so be getting one :c) Okay, so it'll take a few years but still...I wasn't particularly blown away with the modelling but there is just so much you could do with that thing. Personally i'd keep the normal pickup/amp system and blend the VG-99 signal with it. The aural possibilities of that are quite staggering.

What is it with the VG-99?
Roland only mentions it on their web site, like it's just another product, but when the VG-88 came out there were multiple videos and sound bytes on their site.
Only one bootleg video exists of the NAMM presentation, and Roland's presenter didn't seem to have himself organized or knowledgeable enough to do it, so he just read the feature list. They could have borrowed one of the Dean Girls to do that:idea: ...and it would have been more interesting.
Seems to me that Roland laid low on the VG-99 introduction to let the VG-Strat shine. The plan worked. There's lots more buzz about the VG Strat than the VG-99. But it leaves the air that the VG-99 is not something Roland is very proud of.

Aurelius P. of the vg-8 Yahoo Group is organizing a VG-99 group buy with Alto Music, with a target price of "under $900". No response yet though on whether there will be a group buy for the foot controller.

My guess is the Line6 Variax guitars are more popular than the VG-8 and VG-88, so Roland is more aggressively marketing the VG Strat as their answer to the Variax.
The founder of Roland, Ikutaro Kakehashi, has always been a big proponent of guitar synthesis technology. I believe if it were not for him, Roland would not have stuck with guitar synthesizers for so long, from the old GR-500 and GR-300 all the way to today's GR-3x series and VG-99, while their competitors gave up on the technology, let alone started experimenting with Virtual Guitar technology. I don't see why Roland would actively take feedback from VG-8 and VG-88 users in the design of the VG-99, only to sweep it under the rug.

I used to belong to that group when I had a VG-88. Aure is a class act.

Signed up for the group buy, even though the foot controller is not included. Group buy price looks good enough to me - at least $200 lower than online store prices.

Sorry I took so long, Andy....
Quality or only stuff sold in the M.F. catalog?
Is Waldorf quality?
So, blame the people who said "Wow, your Summer NAMM and AES videos were way better than the other sites!"
This made me laugh out loud.
