here's the deal
I own a G4 Tibook running Logic and a Motu 828.
My band has alot of gigs coming up and i'm trying to find the best way to use my portable rig for play the backing tracks to our songs. Is there any software out there that can be used for live accompianment and also be able to have a seperate click track for the drummer?I was just wondering if i could assign seperate tracks to each of the 8 outputs with one of them for click for the drummer. Basically i'm just looking for a good live software sequencer. thanks

I don't see why you couldn't use the likes of Logic Audio and playback what you like out of whatever output you liked. It should be ultimately reliable as well.

You could record a drum click track on one of the Logic tracks and send that out an 828 output to a headphone amp for your drummer. You have the right laptop and audio interface already... ;0)

I would advise a lot of reaheasal with the drummer though as following a drum metronome is a different experience for everyone. He may be happier with certain sounds that carry over the ambient noise of a gig...

Good Luck

Yes, it is VERY important to acclimatize your drummer to playing with a click. In my experience , some drummers have a hard time at first ; some just plain hate it , but in this day and age it is a neccesity.Dont be too hard on the guy or girl if the first few attempts are awful followed by much cursing :-)
It sounds like , as Stephen said, you already have all the hard/software you need to do this. You may also consider a midi channel with the click to an old beatbox so the drummer can pick his sound to sync along to.
