Any opinions on the best Firewire hard-drive for digital audio? What is the minimum capacity and transfer speed I should be looking at?

Thanks.

Maxtor make a very fast HD but I can't supply the model details. I read about it in a music magazine and they recon the new incarnation of the firewire interface works a treat. It's hardly cheap but you get what you pay for.

What computer do you have??? I have just installed a Fujitsu MPG3409AH 40 gigger (IDE internal) into my G4 and it's much faster than the stock Western Digital. Cheap too...!

Glyph makes really good firewire harddrives for audio.

Glyph makes great hard drives that are rack mountable and certified by companies like MOTU to be mated to their hardware (for instance the new Glyph drive that goes along with the MOTU828). However, these drives are pretty expensive.

I'm looking at a 100gb 7200 drive with the new Oxford firewire bridge (faster transfer speeds) for about $350 with free shipping from macsolutions.com

I've had problems with customer care from OWC, so I'd stay away from them (for instance sending things in to get repaired and them not even taking the thing apart to look for a problem).
