I'm getting a new powerbook and i was wondering just how different the 550 is from the 667. i know there is about a 800 dollar price difference but i was currious if it was really worth it to go the distance and spring for the extra speed.
thanks

The extra speed is not just in the processor, but in the system bus. The 667MHz has a 133MHz system bus, whereas the 550MHz has a 100MHz system bus. This is probably the most important diference with respect to multimedia recording.
The 667 also comes with more memory (256MB vs. 128MB) and a bigger hard drive (30GB vs 20GB). The An airport card is also included with the 667.
The system buss will make a difference in almost everything you do, so I'd opt for the faster buss. Doesn't help to have a faster processor if its being bottlenecked by the system bus.
