I have a Titanium Powerbook and i'm looking into buying some recording software and an interface. i was curious if i should just go with the digi 001 with protools LE or get the motu 828 and use logic. if i get the digi 001 i'll have to get a 2-slot pci expansion chasiss as well. I'm just wondering if anyone runs logic or even protools software with the motu 828 interface or if i should just go with the digi 001 and just spring for the 2-slot pci expansion as well. thanks

ProTools is a great app but it's very limited (and I think over-rated)
I'd go 828 and Logic. The midi section of PT is horrible and they have no future plans to better it (as I have talked directly with DigiDesign).

Logic is deep, however, it's always recommended that you use hardware and software by the same manufacturer when you can as you only need to call ONE tech support and won't have the product blaming the other when problems occur.
So, I would suggest using an 828 and Digital Performer. It is by far more versatile than PT or use Logic and their new 2/6. However, the 2/6 is USB and the 828 is Firewire BUT as long as you're USB device has direct monitoring capabilities, you will not have to worry about latency.
Both app's will integrate if you NEED to go into a ProTools session..

Digi001 and Magma cardbus chassis is way too much to pay for the quality you're going to get.

Look at the cardbus units by RME and Echo (Layla24) before you deside on the MOTU828 (if you haven't already). I own a MOTU828 and have been pretty happy with it, but I'm noticing that Firewire (in its current state atleast) has some limitations.
