OK, I'm a bit stumped on some basics with DP3 which will form the basis of just about everything that I do:

I do my recording with an external HD recorder and copy over wav files with the individual tracks.

DP3 is to be my mixing/editing platform.

Unfortunately, I've been unable to figure out how to take a wav file and place it in a DP3 audio track. Can someone who understands the program give me a step-by-step guide to what I need to do?

I haven't used Performer in a while and since no one has replied, I'll give it a shot. There should be an option in the File Menu that will say, "Import audio". Select an new audio track in DP3 and import it.

However, I get the feeling you haven't imported your tracks to your computer and converted them into .wav or AIFF files yet. (AIFF is a Mac format so I would presume you'd prefer AIFF)
Even though you say that you want to import your wav files.

By saying 'wav files' you are stating that the audio has already been imported and converted therefore, all you need to do is import it into DP3 from the File menu.
(Just in case you don't know: recorded audio does not automatically BECOME a .wav file.)

Not sure if you need the basics explained (recorder outs>to computer in>select track in DP etc).

What audio interface are you using? What recorder are you using?

More info would be helpful.

take the file from your desktop and drag it into the soundbites menu for a project you've created. It should work on a wav file.
