Hello there
I am running Cubase VST 32 on a power mac 7300/180 with a G3 card with mac OS 8.6 and a power book G3 400 with mac OS 9.0.4
I want to update my mac OS to at least 9.1on both machines
Should I update to OS 9.1 or OS 9.2.1 ?
Do you know of any problemes with those OS ?
Any feedback will be very welcome

Hello,
I'm not sure that my problems lie at OS level, but everything was fine when I used OS 9.03, and it's a nightmare now with OS 9.2.1 (which, I've been told, it's been designed mainly as Classic for Mac OS X).

Hello Fabien
It looks like it is a good idee to stay with OS 9.1
Thank you very much for your feedback

One thing to note is that apparently one of the fixes between 9.1 and 9.2 is adjusting the voltage on the USB port. My girlfriend was unable to print to her HP printer from her ibook until she did the upgrade to 9.2. This might also affect the performance of other USB peripherals (or it might be that the printer in question was especially sensitive to USB voltages).

This a question I need to also know I'm running a G4 with OS 9.0.4 and have the up grade to 9.2 & 10.1 Should I up grade or not. Are these OS running audio reliable. I'm useing DP 2.7 with the MOTU 2408.

I am running OSX 10.1 and OS 9.2.1 on a Mac G4/400 AGP with a Korg 1212 card (ADAT). I use Logic Audio 4.6.3, Peak and Spark (as well as other bits and bobs). I haven't had a single problem with any of it.
If you have a second HD then it might be worth installing the two new OS's on this HD and then running them from there for a test run... Works for me...
OSX 10.1 is highly recommended as well. It's more reliable than any previous Mac OS I have used. It's still rough at the edges but I think it will end up being the premiere audio operating system in the months/years to come.

Until you're ready to upgrade to OS X, I wouldn't go any higher than 9.1.
I've found OS 9.1 to be very stable on my G4/350 and all of my older audio software works just fine.
