I think so. For just a few bucks, it can really come in handy when you need it.

Now that I've said that, here comes the rest of the posse to tell you that if you tune your drums correctly, you won't need Moongels. :D

The posse comes after me since I agree with DW, especially for us that don't have the elite level kits or great tuning talent.

Are moongels those little rectangle rubber cement like things that you wet and stick to your drumheads to dampen in spots??
If so than that's what I use on my snare and floor tom and they work.

I'm not the greatest at tuning but I don't I'm too bad since I've been doing over 20 years now (Man was high school really that long ago??!!)

I can tune the drum evenly all around and still have a buzz or dead spot, and then one moongel in the right spot and problem solved....
Just my two cents.......

best dampening device out there imo. problem is most people will miss use them and kill the sound of their drums. Make them dead. These are well worth it to have with you. Especially in the studio.

I definitly think they are worth it even though I know how to tune a kit.

Even moreso, they are the best thing you can use in a studio when an engineer says "Your drums sounds great but sustain too much!"

I take it as a compliment! BUT, he wanted a little more controlled sound... so he threw a moongel on each of my nicely tuned Starclassic Birch toms.

Oh well!

Iīve never tried moongels . I havent even seen them in any stores here. :) People living here HAVE to learn how to tune haha. :)
As a matter of fact I donīt know any drummers who duct tape their kits a lot......just a few who rolls a tiny piece of tape to a small roll and sticks it to the heads.

ABSOLUTELY worth it.

And I'm normally one of those guys who says "tune correctly and you won't need them" but you wouldn't catch me going to a gig or session without them in my bag now. I don't use them often, but I do use them. It's up to the engineer and sometimes things just happen. I had a messy snare ring Saturday (at a late soundcheck running where tuning wasn't an option), for example, and a moongel cleaned it up right quick. I was very happy to have them with me.

I'm a fan of them, though duct tape can work just as well.

Then again, I love using duct tape for just about anything.
