I particularly like the Black Sabbath life-sized Stonehenge story in the sidebar...

Also, love U2 referencing Spinal Tap when they were trapped in the set.

“This voice came into my head,” he later said. “I’m Derek Smalls.”

Those were some great stories. It's nice to know I'm not the only one! :D

But seriously, I think "Spinal Tap" and "The Blues Brothers" should be required viewing in any musical education program.

...and Caddyshack should be required viewing for any kid who wants to work at a country club. As a reformed caddy, there is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that the guys who wrote that thing were loopers at some point or another.

As for Spinal Tap, there are maaaaybe one or two things in that movie that I haven't personally experienced at some point in my musical life.

When Mrs. Old Steve and I bought our first DVD player a few years ago, I decided that I'd only "buy" movies that I reeeeaaaalllly wanted to own (after accumulating a few thousand VHS tapes that I never watched). I selected two movies the same day that we bought the DVD player: Spinal Tap and Caddyshack. Everything else is a "rental" as far as I'm concerned.

The audio commentary on the Tap DVD is the best use of the technology I've ever experienced.

"Well... why don't you have it go to 10, but just make the whole thing louder?"

"No...these go to eleven."
----

"It's called, 'Lick my love pump'."

----

"I'd like to ask a practical question, if I may. Will we be doing 'Stone'enge' tonight?"

"No, we will NOT be doing BLOODY 'STONE'ENGE'!"

-----

"I will not perform a free-form jazz oddessy for a PUPPET SHOW CROWD!"

I've always wanted to make an 18" Stonehenge model (as seen in the movie) and mount it to my bass drum head.
