we are headlining our local beer festival in the begining of october and we are headlining the second anual block party for halloween. my question is if you guys have any suggestions on covers that will go along with each event. it is allways nice to learn something cool for your bigger gigs. both of them will be infront of about 5000 drunk people and both will be outside if the weather permits.

How about an arrangement of "Beer" by Reel Big Fish? It's one of the only songs out there that glorifies the goodness that is beer.
I've also heard a punk band do a cover of "The Beer Song" from South Park -- I'm sure that's floating around on the net. Based off of a classical piece that I'm blanking on the title of...
But yeah, go with RBF, and good luck on the gig! :thu:

Sorry, dude... pullin' a blank.
Maybe some old hair band standard like "highway to hell", or something kitschy like "Wearwolves of London"? Something that makes the audience go, "Oh, Shit, I used to LOVE this song..."
Maybe?
Shit, I don't know... if it was my band we'd play "Green Dolphin Street."

Of course, there's always "the Monster Mash" for Halloween.
...but you probably already have that one on your list.

How about the Beer Barrel Polka (aka Roll Out The Barrel)? May not be rockin' but it's got the right topic.
Or not.

Well, there's always "Spooky" by the Classics 4, and I think Santana released a cover of that one. Or how about "Love Potion No. 9" - don't know who did that one.
Not sure about the beer festival though. You may have to go with Beer Barrel Polka, as suggested above.

"One-eyed-one-horned-blind-purple-people-eater"
Not really.

Hey, didn't some heavy rock band remake this song?

One of the best guitar licks ever is part of the theme to the Munsters tv show. Kind of a cool 1960's beach lead. You could jam on that for hours, and I'd be into it....so long as the beer was flowing. ;)

Some suggestions:
"Witchy Woman"-Eagles
"Crystal Ball"-Styx
"Long Cool Woman"- Hollies
"Back in Black" "Highway to Hell"-AC/DC
Don't know the title or artist but goes "she's such a devil woman, with evil on her mind, beware the devil woman, she's gonna get you from behind.."
"Home by the sea"-Genesis
"Helter Skelter"-Beatles
"Devil with a blue dress"-??
"Crystal blue persuasion" Tommy James and the Shondells
"Why don't we get drunk"-Jimmy Buffet
"Gimme Three Steps"-Lynard Skynard
"Mony Mony" TJ& Shondells/ Billy Idol
"Brandy"- the Looking Glass
"Rockin' into the night"-.38 Special
"Heartache Tonight"-Eagles
All I can think of right now, hope it helps.....

You could always do a rendition of Frankenstein by the Edgar Winter Group. It would give you an excuse to throw down a drum solo. :D
Alice Cooper tunes usually go over pretty good at Halloweenie gigs.

...and I know a metal band redid that one.

I'm still going back and fourth with my band on this subject and no songs have been chosen. help me brain storm some more if you guys could. we are getting a lot of money for these gigs and i would like to blow everyones minds with a couple of crowd pleasing covers. I've given all of you suggestions to the band mates and either the songs were to cliche or to vague. I know, they are acting like a bunch of fucking bitches, but whatcha goina do?
