Does anybody know a store or website that sells plastic or metal knobs for faders? Specifically its for the Stanton CFF1 FocusFader crossfader in my turntable mixer (Stanton SK6).

Stanton unfortunately informed me that they do not have a part for me, or even a part number for just the plastic knob/slider. They told me to start contacting parts stores and just find anything that will fit. So I figured the DIY forum could point me in the right direction.

The metal stem that the fader knob needs to connect to is roughly 4mm wide and 1mm high.

I have a feeling I'm going to be buying a whole new crossfader, which sucks because I just replaced 2 needles, had computer power supplies and a hard drive die on me, amongst other sorely needed things like guitar, bass, upright strings. I'm really having some bad luck lately.

Thanks in advance if anybody can help.

might not be the exact same knob as what your stanton originally had but this site seems to have something that would work and possibly be better:

fader knob (http://www.sifam.com/sliderknob_intro.lasso)

there are literally tons of parts suppliers out there and the people who know it best are those who build their own midi controllers. Check out this (http://www.ucapps.de/) this site and head on over to the forum there for a lot of parts discussion and supplier list. Also the forum over at ableton live's website has some discussion on building controllers but mostly from people living pipe dreams not knowing what it actually entails.

I myself have a stanton mixer, although not a 'scratching' style one and i can see how the plastic fader knobs would break if slammed really hard. I was really suprised they weren't metal especially when the faders themselves last for millions of runs but i doubt the knobs would.

Thanks for the link, but thats not the kind of fader knob I'm talking about. I've contacted a bunch of parts stores over the last couple days this is what everybody thinks I mean which is understandable.

I sort of fixed it. I cut small pieces of metal from the pci slot cover of a computer case, bent them, and superglued them into the knob for reinforcement. I don't think it'll hold for long though. I'm more of turntablist/scratch kind of guy and crab scratches and faster juggling take a toll on the fader.

Here is a pic of what the fader looks like, its the crossfader at the bottom. The metal pole/stem that the knob pushes onto measures about 4mm horizontally and 1mm vertically, so the hole in the bottom of the knob would have measure at least that size, and be very close so its tight enough. I'm doubting I'll find a replacement, but I'm trying real hard because I'm not buying another complete fader for this mixer (would be my third), I'll bite the bullet and a get a really good mixer (which I can't really afford at the moment). Sorry for the huge pic, I couldn't remember how to resize images with HTML.
