Hi Guys,

Got a quick question for players.

I'm preparing a orchestral piece for performance and need some advice on the flute parts.

Would a 2 octave major scale run starting on high A down to low A be possible in the space of one beat at Crotchet = 70 (last A is actually beat 2 so its actually 14 notes in 1 beat)

Its for a semi pro orchestra mainly teachers.

Also an E major scale for clarinet same thing but going up starting on the E above middle C to top E??

I havent got access to the players until later on in the year and trying to get it right before I see them.

Cheers

It is possible. I just got back from playing with a professional brass band a couple weeks ago and had some similar runs in my tuba parts. That many notes in that short of a space even at slower tempos usually tend to be more of a glissando than actually playing the run, but some of that will also depend on the technical capabilities of the individual players. Hope this helps a little.

Yeah, it's definitely possible, but like soundministries said, it depends on the player's technique. Just tell them to go home and practice it. :)
