As a fellow owner I find the preamps to be quite noisy at high-gain settings. This doesn't bother me too much personally, but after reading in a magazine review that they were "low-noise", I was wondering whether my unit is defective. I'm just curious to hear from the rest of you how low noise you think they are.

(For comparison - I took my Sennheiser HD280PRO headphones, plugged them into the headphone output in standalone mode, turned it all the way up, then, without any mic plugged in, turned up the volume on, say, input #1 all the way up to +53dB. Sounds noisy to me!)

Thanks for the reply, juliancs (I sorta forgot I even posted the original message ;)).
Are you using headphones? If so, what kind and (if you know) what impedance?
What do you mean by "very low noise"? Did you try what I did - turn volume all the way up on phones + trim + monitoring?

Hello
I am using my moniotrs out of the traveler to monitor, and if I turn it all way up I do get noise, but not alot considering the volume...
