Ok, that was bad...

Anyway, not a lot happening on this forum so why not have everyone post a pic or two of their horns and other stuff? Maybe a performance pic?

I'll try to get one or two up later.

Allora AA186 BBb tuba is my main horn.

Besson Compensating euphonium that I just picked up on ebay. I'll get the horn on Saturday and am way stoked about it.

I've also got a King 3B SilverSonic F trigger trombone. What a beautiful horn. . .anybody interested in purchasing it? It's a wonderful tenor horn but when I play trombone I'm a bass player so I need to sell this one to buy the new bass I need. I'll see if I can get some pictures this weekend to post.

Hey, man, nice flutes. You got any tips for cutting the embouchure on those flutes. I made one, but it's very hard to coax it into the lower register. I'm assuming that's where the problem lies. Did you get the plans from Doug Tipple's site?

I looked at Getzens a bit when I ordered my Kanstul.

Getzen's president posts quite a bit on the Trumpet Herald, very cool guy who really knows his stuff.

He also is involved in Bugles Across America, a volunteer organization that provides live buglers to sound taps at WWll vets funerals. Getzen even designed and built a special field trumpet just for this purpose.

Don't have a pic of my trumpet right now, but it's just your regular Bach Strad-an LR180 with a solid silver bell. I'll get a pic of it soon.

Here's a pic of a young Pilot back in the late 50s, playing an old Karl Meyer clarinet. Currently have a pair of Boosey and Hawkes Emperors, still in excellent condition, a flute, trumpet, two keyboards and a grand piano.

Just to keep things moving along, here's a pic of the pipes I mentioned. The clarinets are over 40 years old and still going strong.

Sorry to say it's a First Act. Couldn't afford anything else on my meagre allowance. I used to have a lovely Boosey and Hawkes trumpet but I sold it when funds were low. Always regretted it.

Hey man, next time you look for a trumpet, check out Ebay and look for an Olds Ambassador. With a little wear on them, you can get them for barely more than a First Act, and they keep up with most medium-high end Yamahas and Bachs nowadays, supposedly.

I may also be coerced into selling a vintage Conn 20B if you're ever interested...;)

Well, it had the merit of being cheap. Got it for $120 new. Didn't think much of the mouthpiece though. OK for low notes but I couldn't get above C in the middle register. Bought a Bach 10C which was more to my liking. What I really wanted was one with a fat cushion rim and a small cup but none of the local dealers had one. I suppose they think that all their customers are symphony players.

Hmm...

You could use Kanstul's mouthpiece comparator to see if there's a piece more to your liking, if you ever intend to buy another. Last I checked, they had the full Bach, Schilke, Monette, and a few other lineups listed.
