It just started this today as I restarted it... I hadn't done anything particular... I recently upgraded to OS 10.3 and installed an internal 200gb HD but that was over a week ago and it's been working fine till today... is there a way to get it to load up?

I turn it on and it plays that chord, and I see the apple Logo in the center of the screen and a circular "loading" type of symbol below, but then the Apple logo turns into a circle-with-a-diagonal-line-thru-it (Kinda like a "No Smoking" sign)

its a 733 quicksilver with 512mb etc. etc.

NOOOOOOOO!!!!

Here are some things you can try, any one of them could work.

1. Zap your PRAM: hold down apple + opt + p + r and let the machine reboot three times.

2. Boot in to single user mode and run fsck: hold down apple + s and the machine will boot into a text creen only. There will then be directions on the screen how to run fsck.

3. Boot from an OS X install disc and run disk utility to repair permissions and perform disk first aid.

4. Remove all third party devices, even 3rd party RAM.

5. Boot and hold down shift (safe mode) this disables 3rd party drivers which may be causing an issue.

Hope something here works. It may actually be a problem with your boot drive.

WOW thanks. I knew there was something I could do by holding a key during startup but had no luck finding it on apple's site. I hope one of em works... wish me luck
