Can anyone fill me in as to what the above statement actually means. I've heard it used in context to drummers having to play a drum track that was previously created with midi instruments or at least composed using electronic instruments.
Is it simply playing the composed beat witha metronome or what?
Pardon my ignorance I'm more of a synth guy ;)
Cheers.

Yes, a "click"track is simply a form of a metronome, and in current sequencers, it can be called the metronome.
The reason its called a "click" track is simply because of the recorded "click" sound made by the metronome. Current DAW setups allow the metronome setting to follow the time of the song tempo. So if you speed up the tempo, the frequency of the click increases as well. Through midi, the metronome part can be assigned to a midi channel and part and thereby trigger any sound you wish and thus, no longer be just a "click".

It takes a little bit of talent to play to a click if you are not used to it. Of course, they are butt steady and don't waver a bit. Try it.

Well this just shows how ignorant I am when it comes to drumming and the skill levels involved. I thought playing to a metronome would have been easier not harder for a drummer, that is up untill now! Thats right I don't know any drummers and I program all my own beats.
