calibrating basses and guitars

i have a warwick rockbass and a cheap ($200) yamaha acoustic guitar (steel strings).

I would like to learn to calibrate them, how should i do it and when... any source you can recommend me to learn?

By "calibrate" do you possibly mean "set up?"

You know, changing string height, intonation so that every fret sounds in tune, truss rod adjustments so that the guitar/bass plays exactly like you want it to?

Right?
