Hey guys I'm really just wondering if anybody else here plays/played the bass clarinet. I got moved from alto sax to bass clar. this year and it's a pretty fun instrument to play. Any experiences?

No first hand experience but I think it's one of the most lovely sounds on Earth.
Pretty much a portable church organ. :)

John Surman and Louis Sclavis are 2 of my favorite musicians.

Plus you can slap it. As a bass player you can't but love that. :D

Alto is the only clarinet I've ever played, but Eric Dolphy rocks on the bass variety.

Holy crap, I love the bass clarinet. Really hard to play but it's so much fun and beautiful sounding.

I've got an alto as well, but would love a bass - the sound is so sweet!
