s/pdif presonus

Just got an imac and presonus. I can hear and record on all 8 inputs but when i come s/pdif out of my dig preamp into presonus, i can't hear it. I've selected inputs 9 and 10 with track in record and monitor. Can anyone help? Cubase le

same sample/bit rate on both. One has to be master and one slave. Slave set to sync to external (s/pdif) and master internal.
