She is indeed a guitar player, but i can't find a single picture of her on the web (lots of hunting) with a guitar.

I'd love for us to be able to find one so she can be included without breaking the rules here. I feel she certainly deserves to be on BK's criteria of women making it in a man's world.

For those3 of you who don't know the story, she took up learning to play guitar for the purposes of a column in a UK magazine (Guitarist? Totaly Guitar? one of those two); the monthly column was a 500-words from a beginner's POV. always an interesting angle, and she's a genuinely engaging writer.

So anyhow. While very much a presence in the media behind the scenes and having done some more front-of-camera work of recent years, she's still more well known for being Chat Show Host & TV Personality jonathan Ross' wife, and thus for her physical appearance alongside him at premieres etc. She is an utterly stunning woman, a very natural beauty with that striking hair, and very 50s pin-up figure and porcelain skin. Her large bust and fabulous cleavage in particular attracted the eye of many a male reader of her guitar column, and the website forums were full of comments about her, ah.... I believe the phrase used most commonly was "fantastic tits". Being the lady she is.... she chimed in with some very dryly witty responses, basically thanking the guys for their "compliments" and thereby really making them feel about an inch high when they realsied she was reading what they said.

In my book, that's pretty cool.

So....anyone have a copy of the mag - there was a photo of her with her Tele at the top of the column, would be great to have it scanned in here...

Seems to me there's more girls getting into guitar now than there used to be... we'll know there's true equality in guitar buying, though, when the ladies start getting GAS as bad as we do....

That's a thing that in my experience still separates the genders - guys are infinitely more likely to collect guitars as well as being players.....

Nah, sacrilege is when it was butchered - BUTCHERED, I tells ya - by McFly or Busted or somesuch <spits>.

I've not heard it.... not that I'm aware of.... I heard the solo acoustic version with girl singer and obvious lesbian slant (it was used as part of the sountrack for Sugar Rush, a tv drama thingy few months back about a teenage lesbian), but i figure that's not it?

I love that so many folks see it as a "pretty pop song" and totally miss that it was actually written about frustrated young Irish catholic boys in Derry, wankin' off cause they couldn't get girlfriends..... :D

I have an old videotape of an Abbot and Costello TV show from the 1950's with Les Paul and Mary Ford as guest stars. Mary was a helluva player and managed to keep with old Les when he was doing his weird up and down the neck tape echo things.

She was also one foxy lady.

Here's an acquaintance of mine, Sam Jones. She was in lotsa local bands, the best known were called the Crustaceans, Van Builderass, and Bitchin.

She was a bartendress at the local legend Hardback Cafe, and for a while went out with Chuck Ragan from Hot Water Music. She and Chuck were in a locals supergroup called Rumbleseat, with whom my band gigged once. The rhythm section for that band was another member of HWM and an ex-member of Radon.
