Did you ever encounter a duo calling themselves the Spinster Sisters? I saw them in London a few months back, I'm pretty sure they were from Israel. Interesting act.... like Iggy and Johnny Thunders recast in the bodies of thirty something ladies.... Berlin was AMAZING. What a city. We didn't have much time there as we were just there for the weekend, but we're talking about heading back soon. Love those budget airlines. (Well, the fares anyway.)

We acquired the SG last autumn, but it's actually my boyfriend's guitar. I was using it because I couldn't get a flight case to fit the Fender and didn't want to chance it in a gig bag. Sometimes you can talk the airlines into letting you bring it in the cabin, but Ryanair are not exactly the most accommodating of airlines (they charged a disabled guy to hire a wheelchair once, jeez...).

Berlin is the one other city in Europe (outside London and - if i was REALLY rich, Dublin) that i could seriously see myself settling in. Love it.

I'm 99% sure it's a Burns, which makes sense for a UK band. Burns Bison I think, and those look like Burns Trisonic pickups.

Yeah, i had it earmarked as a baritone from the first photo - looks much longer in the neck than a regular guitar. If it was available left handed, it could be the answer for the project I'm jamming with where i alternatve guitar and bass.... for now when I don't have the space to carry both, I'm finding my Westone Thunder IA handy - the active boost turned all the way to the bass side fairly convincingly fakes a bass guitar sound well enough to jam.

Sorry I'm veering OT... back to the lovely ladies of the guitar! :)

I saw the Pretenders on that '84 tour with SRV. They played at William and Mary in Williamsburg. Great show!

Cool. We were at the very same show (I drove over from W&L). Remember that the Alarm also played (blech)?

My buddies and I helped set up the stage before the show and got to see SRV do a 20-minute sound check and stage rehearsal. He was cooler than cool.

The Pretenders were awesome too. Did you see Heart when they were in Roanoke the previous year? What about The Stones show in Dec. '81 in Hampton?

Haha, no, they're from several different ones, if you're talking about the Ghoulies ones. But I believe the ones with her (iirc she goes by "Roach") in the stripes, and the ones where she's playing the Daisy Rock sparkletop singlecut, must be fairly recent, because the guy is playing what appears to be an Eastwood Rocket bass, and those reissue basses haven't been around for very long.

They've always had good interesting inexpensive guitar choices. In the other pics above she's mainly playing an old modded Melody Maker with a humbucker replacing the original single coil, and in some of the pics she's playing a Daisy Rock sparkletop singlecut. I saw them play a local club around 2000 or so.
