View Full Version : Logic Core Audio Problem

My Logic 6 won't startup anymore because of the Core Audio not initializing.

It's a problem with my Motu 828, I'm almost certain because when I don't have it connected, Logic will load. But when it's connected and when it tries to initalize Core Audio, Logic unexpectedly quits.

It was working before and I recorded some things with it. I recently did however cleanup my desktop and threw away some items including the "Sampler Instruments", "Freeze Files" and some other things. I also just installed disc 1 of Eastwest Colossus sample library. But I'm talking to the guy I bought from about getting the license transferred so I can't use Colossus now, and I ended up deleting it from my computer.

Now I tried to start Logic like I normally do, but it would quit while it was trying to initalize the Core Audio. When I plu in the firewire cord to my Mac from the 828, the Firewire console menu pops up on my computer, so my Mac seems to still recognize it.

Anyone know what might be the problem?

Repair permissons on the Mac. It might help if there is some corruption going on. Delete the preferences for both the MOTU driver and Logic. You might be able to uninstall the MOTU driver with the MOTU installer but I wouldn't know. Probably worth downloading to check. I'd do that first actually, then delete the preferences, then repair permissons then install da' MOTU interface driver again, reboot..

Best of luck..

Thanks again, I figured it out. I took into account what you said about deleting stuff. I checked the preferences and permissions. Then I started to think of some recent software that I loaded up, I think it was mainly Colossus from Eastwest, and I deleted it. Now it works again.

I deleted the VST Colossus library. I need to get the registration code for this. Hopefully by the end of the week so I can load it properly.

I don't really understand the problem, but it might just be because of not registering yet.

I'm almost computer illiterate   :D I'll just have to remember and be cautious about loading new software and remember to check out my permissions every now and then.

Thanks Rimmer :thu:

Looking forward to use Logic more in depth. More practice making music on the computer and in Logic will hopefully get me more literate with computer music!
