It is this pain emanating deep within my rectum it comes out of the blue and it makes me grimace.

oh yeah, I've had that also, doesn't usually last more than 5-10 seconds, kind of like a very intense cramp, haven't had one for awhile, only had one like once a week anyway.
I'm not too worried, but it happens its hard to keep quiet!

Seriously...RELAX...This is normal. I remember it seem to be worse
when I drank YEARS ago. My cousin and I use to joke about
the momentary shooting pains thru the rectum.
I think it's a prostate growing pain or something. Hurts
like hell quick,harsh shooting pain...........ENJOY:freak: :D

I went to a doctor about this last week. Mine always comes in the middle of the night, and can last about half an hour. The thing I notice is that I never have anything in my bowels at the time. It feels like I should take a dump, but I can't
Anyway, he said that it's a cramping because of built up gas that hasn't expelled but gone back into my intestines.
It happens to a lot of people and there are no long term effects or problems.

I get that too. Its really fast but VERY sharp - I always tell myself "this is what having a baby must be like".

Get a colonoscopy......they give you *great* drugs for the procedure......and then you will know for sure :thu:

I had that too along time ago right out of the blue severe pain for a few secs right in the asshole . I was too young to have roids or anything really wrong with me . At the time I was on the road with a band in Minnasota. I went to the doc after a few episodes. He asked me if I had been having anal sex,you know, the boy in the band and all. I said "no" . Then he stuck his finger up my ass.
Nothing wrong. The episodes of startling pain went away. I only had maybe 15 episodes. Its weird . It was growing pain I guess.
Swear this is nonfiction.
